Paul A. Hughson is an Executive Managing Director at Island Capital and C-III Capital Partners, as well as the Chief Investment Officer of the company’s real estate private equity funds.
Mr. Hughson joined the team in July of 2009 after enjoying a 16 year banking relationship with Island Capital and its predecessor company, Insignia.
Prior to his affiliation with Island Capital, Mr. Hughson was a member of the Lehman Brothers Global Real Estate Group for 15 years, and was the head of global credit distribution. Mr. Hughson joined Lehman Brothers in 1993 to develop its conduit securitization platform and subsequently became responsible for all of Lehman Brothers’ proprietary and client based Agency CMBS and CRE CDO securitization businesses bringing over $100B of new issue securitized product to market. In 2004 Mr. Hughson became the head of Lehman Brothers’ Bridge Equity business which successfully redistributed approximately $4 billion of real estate equity into the institutional marketplace. Prior to joining Lehman Brothers, Mr. Hughson practiced real estate law with Thacher Proffitt & Wood from 1986-1993.
Mr. Hughson received his J.D. from the University of Virginia in 1986 and his B.A. from Tufts University in 1983.
