Following the company’s acquisition of the historic Fontainebleau Miami Beach resort, Mr. Soffer oversaw a $1 billion expansion, transforming the iconic property into one of the country’s most sought-after beachfront playgrounds. Famed for architect Morris Lapidus’ emblematic curvilinear façade and whimsical interior elements, the 1,504-room Fontainebleau Miami Beach now features two new luxury all-suite towers; 12 restaurants and lounges; a 40,000-square-foot spa; and a dramatic oceanfront poolscape.
In the early 2000s, Mr. Soffer set his sights on Las Vegas. He began by bringing his “mansions in the sky” concept to the iconic Las Vegas Strip, creating nine residential towers, including the first high-rise condominium community overlooking The Strip and partnering with MGM Mirage to build The Residences at MGM Grand, which includes three sold-out and completed 40-story towers on the Las Vegas casino-hotel property.
On December 13, 2023, Fontainebleau Las Vegas, a 67-story luxury resort and casino on the northern end of the Strip, opened to global accolades. Certified by the Green Building Initiative with three Green Globes, Fontainebleau Las Vegas features 3,644 luxury hotel rooms and suites, 550,000 square feet of customizable meeting and convention space, 150,000 square feet of gaming space, a collection of world-class restaurants and shops, exquisite pools, vibrant nightlife, and vitality-enhancing spa and
wellness offerings. It is the only resort and casino in Nevada to receive the coveted One Key designation from the 2025 MICHELIN Guide, recognizing its bold design and award-winning collection of luxury amenities and accommodations.
Fontainebleau Development’s portfolio also includes JW Marriott Turnberry Resort & Spa, a 300-acre, AAA Four Diamond Mediterranean-style luxury retreat, and the Four-Diamond Hilton Nashville Downtown. Mr. Soffer recently spearheaded development of Turnberry Ocean Club Residences in Sunny Isles Beach, a 54-story ultra-luxurious high-rise tower on the ocean featuring 154 residences ranging from 2,750 to 10,000 square feet, which opened in 2020. Additionally, Fontainebleau Development has teamed with Starwood Capital Group to bring 1 Homes Jupiter Island to life, marking Starwood’s first-ever non-hotel residential project. The luxury residences include 26 oceanfront estates – ranging from 4,000 to 6,000 square feet – feature expansive terraces, sweeping coastal views, and resort style amenities and incentives.
